This is a representation of various instruments in a bluegrass band, plus a piano keyboard, all overlain with the first phrase of a traditional song "Cotton Pickin' Blues", a traditional work song here arranged by the fiddler Mark O'Conner. Try to pick out the mandolin, fiddle, and guitar. Better yet, try playing the music--although noted for fiddle (lots of slides!) it's playable on most any instrument. This painting was inspired by a birthday card my sister (Cathy Delnore Collins) painted for me, showing two things very important to me: my fiddle and some of my painting tools. This painting is one of 60 selected out of 650 for the 33rd Annual All-Florida Exhibition, on display in Fort Myers March 8-30, 2019.
Having been introduced to landscapes and seascapes by his artist mother, and with influence from his wife with a background in graphic arts, Vic Delnore has developed his own interpretations of landscapes, abstracts, and artistic scenes in graphite, pen and ink, oil, water media, and charcoal. His initial art training was in composition and perspective in The Hague, The Netherlands, followed by instruction in story illustration, pen-and-ink graphics at RPI, figure drawing and calligraphy at MIT/Harvard and ODU, and under nationally known instructors in watercolor and related media.
